A Common-Sense Platform for the 21st Century

by B.K. Eakman

A Common-Sense Platform for the 21st Century represents a starting point for true patriots committed to the ideals and principles of the Framers of the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights, as well as the Declaration of Independence. The Platform recognizes the genius of the Founders in anticipating progress to the extent that they included a means for amending the American Constitution while keeping the original ideals and precepts intact, a means that stands in stark opposition to today’s attempts to throw the baby out with the bathwater. While additional pressing concerns may be added to (or deleted from) the Platform position statements, as events dictate, the tone and construction of this document harkens back to the remarkable (and refreshingly modern) views and tenets contained in Thomas Paine’s 1776 booklet, Common Sense, which greatly influenced the Framers and revolutionized governance throughout the world. Kudos for “A Common Sense Platform for the 21st Century”: “This platform for the 21st century could not have arrived at a better time.

  1. Kimberly

Provides a solid introduction to Constitutional principles, would be very beneficial for new voters. Points out a number of faults with the current government and political system and advocates for several changes which would begin to realign the government with the goals of our Founding Fathers.

  2. Joan Battey, writer-columnist

Beverly Eakman’s book is FANTASTIC! Not just the platform-type recommendations, but ALL of it. Every American needs to read it, preferably well before the national election in 2012.

  3. Roni Bell Sylvester, Publisher/owner, Land and Water USA; co-founder Good Neighbor Law (Denver, CO)

I just read the following in the advance copy of Beverly Eakman’s A Common Sense Platform for the 21st Century. It will rock America. Seriously! “[Today’s] children are supposed to become ‘decision-makers’ at the age of four, and child experts consider toddlers flushing their teddy bears down the toilet mature enough to weigh in global warming, re-cycling and ‘civil unions’.” Her new book has got, well, everything and I am so pleased I got to see an advance copy.

  4. Richard L. Cutler, Ph.D., former vice-president, Univ. of Mich. (retired), and past president, Nat’l Assoc. of Scholars, Michigan chapter

This shows how close we have come to being totally dominated and flummoxed by people bent on controlling us and our country. So many of us here [at NAS, Michigan] appreciate Bev Eakman’s work.

  5. Dave Harlan, Tea Party, Benson, Arizona

ROCK ON, BEV! Thank you so much for taking a simple concept and turning it into the coffin lid for progressive agenda.

  6. Ron Ewart, president, National Association of Rural Landowners

In general, I am in agreement with at least 95% of what you wrote, or more. What you are attempting to do is not an easy task and still get most people’s attention. It lays out the issues and it outlines some of the common-sense solutions, in detail. It is historical, informational and partly inspirational, all necessary elements to keep the reader’s attention. I applaud you for what you have put into this excellent effort.

  7. Sandy Hunter

Wonderful book that was easy to comprehend yet was not watered down. I wish, as the author suggested, that all Americans, especially those who are soon to vote for the first time, would read this book. Though some of the ideas seem radical at first glance, the author has carefully though through her suggestions and those ideas will work. GREAT BOOK!!
